The Human Connection Interrupted
Emails sent with intention carries an electric current of connection, AI emails don't.
Dear Reader,
This week I am writing about two topics:
The Human Connection Interrupted
Book of the Week: Scary Smart
I hope you enjoy it! I look forward to reading your comments below.
🤖💔 In the Spotlight: The Human Connection Interrupted
I receive a lot of emails from the BA community and people I work with every week. I love receiving those emails because it is often filled with humour, ambition and kind words of feedback or encouragement.
I have an undeniable sense of connection with many of my BAE community purely through emails.
Our relationship is built on that communication in a similar way to this newsletter I send you through Beyond the Byte. It is almost like I can sense the connection, a small current connecting us through email communication….it is a feeling of sorts.
Recently I started receiving a few AI generated emails from people who seem to think they must use fancy language to send me (and others) emails…
Whilst these emails use eloquent language and a perfect professional tone, it feels different when I read them. It has a feeling of flatness to it, and it doesn’t carry that same human emotion I tune into when I receive emails purely written by human beings.
Whilst I embrace AI and what it brings to the world, I am also a huge proponent of protecting our human connections.
Using AI to help writing an email is only okay if you make sure to add your own words, tone and most importantly, your intentions and uniqueness to it.
If you don’t make that email yours, you risk losing the receivers attention, respect and you will likely damage the relationship to some extent because as humans we can sense an email without the true human touch a mile away.
My advice:
Keep it simple, compose your own emails especially those emails that you want the other person to really connect to.
📖 Book of the Week: Scary Smart by Mo Gawdat
If you read my last post, you will know that I said that I was going to read the book by Mo Gawdat, Scary Smart. Did you read it too?
It is probably the most profound and best big picture view of the Artificial Intelligence revolution that we should all prepare ourselves for.
Link to Book: Scary Smart By Mo Gawdat
It sketches a picture of the world we are entering with AI and certainly woke me up to think about how best to carve my future career.
I am not going to try to summarise it here for you – simply urge you to read it (one more time) or perhaps at least watch this interview all the way through:

🔔 Closing Thoughts
This week my message is simple: Keep your human connections real and authentic as we enter this world where it will become harder to distinguish between what is true, real or authentic. Tune into your intuition, focus on building stronger and better bonds with your colleagues, friends and even family!
I look forward to hearing your thoughts on these topics!
All the best,
Esta from Beyond the Byte
